Unless you do a 35 series 17" tire (isnt that slightly less total diameter than stock?). Wheel size is completely seperate from suspension design. The springs, shocks, suspension arms and geometry has nothing to do with the size wheels and tires as long as the total diameter is similiar. You can see examples of newer cars where their higher end versions of the same model will have bigger wheels, like the g35 and 350z. From 17" to 18", if total diameter and total weight is the same, the only thing you are changing is stiffer sidewall and less tire suspension (stiffer ride). The argument "car A was designed for xx size wheels and the z32 was designed for 16" wheels" holds no water at all, it just sounds clever and doesnt answer anything. That's like saying you cant change the brand tires that came on the car because it wasnt designed for any other brand and the slight differences of the brand tire will throw off the cars geometry.
